Thoughts on the new album?
Thoughts on the new album?
Well, where do I begin... Guess I'll do it track for track. Easy, seeing as I have the "you tried desperately to afford the deluxe ver, but you failed" edition (standard edition)
I switched my robot off- Creepy as all hell
Ascension- An absolute great start to the album,
I love it
Strobelite-first time I listened to it, it gave me MJ
vibes. The track was lighthearted yet
sinister, great considering the album's
overall theme.
Saturnz Barz- Honestly, wasn't the biggest fan of
this track when it was first shown on
BBC radio 1. However, given some
Time, I really came to love it's sinister
Tone and Popcaan's very autotune
vocals.
Momentz- My opinion of the track can only be
described as "OMG DE LA SOUL,
AHHHH SHIT YEAAAA!!!".
all joking aside though, I love the track's
chiptune beats at the beginning and the
booming vocal choruses from none
other than the collaborator god themselves.
The Non-Conformist oath- WAAAALUIGIIIIIIII!!!!!!!
Submission- Love the vocals on this one, They are
so full of passion and energy, especially
during Danny Brown's section of the
track.
Charger- " CHA CHA GA!!!" sorry, what were you
saying?
Elevator going up- DIIIINNNNNGGGGGG
Carnival- Amazingly sinister in tone and sound
also, severely underrated.
Let Me Out- First, no. you may not be let out.
Yes, this track is so much yes.
Great vocal delivery from Pusha. T
& Mavis Staples. However, it quickly
got boring for me.
Penthouse- Here we go, we're definitely in LA now
Sex Murder Party- CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED.
I L O V E this track, it's
definitely a highlight of the
album for me. With it's slow
creepy beat and its evil feel
it creates an amazing picture
of modern culture and how
Materialistic and possessive
we are as Humanz
She's my Collar- Honestly, I feel that this track
was a wee bit... Underwhelming
after the highlight that was SMP.
However, as a standalone track
it's pretty good.
The elephant- No thanks, I prefer foxes OwO
Hallelujah money- This track stood out to me as
being darker than the others
in a more 'we're all doomed'
kinda way. Benjamin Clementine's
vocals on this track are spectacular,
Bringing with it a cold & bitter
wind that - ..... sorry.
We Got The Power- No, so much no. This track is
just too simple and bright for
me. It's repetitive and punchy
chorus can get annoying
after more than 3 listens of
the album. Overall no.
Overall, the album was great. It served as an exelent introduction for Gorillaz in this new, more electronic world of music.
We have similar opinions on Humanz, and I agree, We Got the Power can get REALLY annoying. I don't understand how you can't love She's my Collar. Great song in my opinion.
It's a great song, by all means, it's just that, it can get kinda stale after you listen to it as much as I have.
Yeah, I can understand that. I listen to Gorillaz on repeat non-stop, so if a song can't be replayed over and over, I generally don't like it.
HUMANZ wasn't my cup of tea. It relied more on collab artists than the previous albums. A lot of the tracks seemed more like 'insert misc artist' featuring Gorillaz on instrumentals.
