Possession Island изначально являлся ауттейком под простым названием Island со второго сольного альбома Деймона The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows.[1] Позже она была закончена вместе с Беком и спродюсирована Грегом Кёрстином. Эта песня впервые была сыграна вживую во время Gorillaz World Tour 2022, 23 сентября 2022.[2]
