До релиза песни под названием Stop The Dams ранняя альтернативная версия/демо-версия трека была представлена под рабочим названием Aluminum. Она была исполнена вживую в рамках коллаборации Деймона Албарна и музыкантов Эйнара Эрна Бенедиктссона и Курвера Тороддсена из исландского дуэта Ghostigital, а также сына Эйнара, Кактуса Эйнарссона, в качестве благотворительного сингла для концерта Stop the Dams в знак протеста против строительства гидроэлектростанции КаурахньюкарW в январе 2006 года.[1]
После концерта Ghostigital решили перезаписать трек и выпустить его в качестве сингла с участием Деймона. Однако Деймон предложил Ghostigital использовать эту песню в качестве би-сайда к двойному синглу Gorillaz, El Mañana / Kids With Guns, на что дуэт согласился.[2]
