ā€œ One two-dee three... ā€ž

12D3 is a song by Gorillaz and the fourth & final track from the band's debut extended play, Tomorrow Comes Today. It was also later featured as the tenth track on the band's first b-sides compilation album, G-Sides (ninth track on the Brazilian and US American releases).

Information[]

The song mostly consists of an acoustic guitar riff with quiet ambient synthesizers and minimal percussion with lo-fi production. 2-D's vocals are soft, simple and repeated across most of it. Other instruments are also present, such as an electric guitar part and a jaunty piano riff towards the chorus. Murdoc does not seem to be present on this track.

It was also included as a bonus track on the AVCD Limited Edition of the band's self-titled debut album, released only in the Philippines, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Trivia[]

  • 12D3 is the first song released by the band to address a band member by name, with 2-D singing his own name repeatedly.
  • The song's chord progression was later reused by English DJ and producer Fatboy SlimW on his song Put It Back Together, which features Damon Albarn, from his fourth and final studio album PalookavilleW.[1]
