Bañana Baby is a remix and dub rework made by the Spacemonkeyz of the song Tomorrow Come Today by Gorillaz, featured as the third track from the remix album Laika Come Home, the Spacemonkeyz' dub rework of Gorillaz' debut album. It features guest vocals by reggae singer Earl Sixteen (credited as "Earl 16").

An earlier and very slightly different mix of this song was initially released as a B-side track on all commercial formats of the Tomorrow Comes Today single, where it was titled Tomorrow Dub.

Tomorrow Dub is a remix and dub rework made by the Spacemonkeyz of the song Tomorrow Come Today by Gorillaz, featured as the first B-side on all commercial formats of the Tomorrow Comes Today single. It features uncredited guest vocals by reggae singer Earl Sixteen.

A slightly adjusted mix was later featured as the third track on the remix album Laika Come Home, the Spacemonkeyz' dub rework of Gorillaz' debut album, where it was renamed to Bañana Baby.

Background[]

Bañana Baby was the first dub rework to be produced for what later became the Spacemonkeyz. The song was remixed by Darren Galea, one of the members of the Gorillaz Live Band, at some point between the Forum concert and the North American leg of the Gorillaz LIVE tour. The remix was very well received by Damon Albarn, who then requested him to do so for the entire debut album. For that, Galea assembled the Spacemonkeyz with his former JamiroquaiW bandmates Gavin Dodds, Richie Stevens and Stuart Zender (the latter of which did not become an "official" member of the Spacemonkeyz, but still went on to work alongside them), whose work resulted in the remix album Laika Come Home.

The name 'Bañana Baby' is a play on word 'mañana', which means 'tomorrow' in Spanish (referencing part of the title of the original song) and which also sounds similar to 'banana', a fruit commonly associated with monkeys.[1]
