Carly Simon (b. June 25, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter and author from The Bronx, New York.
Role in Gorillaz[]
Simon collaborated with Gorillaz for the track Ticker Tape from the deluxe edition of their 2017 studio album Humanz. She performed the song live with Gorillaz in Boston as a part of Humanz Tour.
Musical career[]
Simon is best known for her 13 Top 40 hit singles she has released throughout the years since the 70s which include Anticipation, Haven't Got Time for the Pain, Coming Around Again , You Belong to Me, You're So Vain, Nobody Does It Better, Jesse and Mockingbird. Since the start of her career, Simon has released 23 studio albums, 9 compilation albums, and one live album. She has been signed to Elektra, Warner Bros, Epic, and other record labels throughout the years. In 1994, she was inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has since gained a Lifetime Achievement Hall of Fame, Grammy Hall of Fame, and has been nominated for a star on the Hollywood Star Walk of Fame. She has been nominated for fourteen Grammy Awards, and won two of them, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award.
