Dawn of the Ogre is a fan-made continuation of Gorillaz' 2006 autobiography Rise of the Ogre, covering events from Phase 3 to Phase 5, using official interview excerpts and input from the writers, including Mat Wakeham, Cass Browne and Jamie Hewlett themselves.

Information[]

The project began in 2019 as a "total Headcanon piece" to simplify some of the more complex story elements (e.g. The Ending of Phase 3), but after a year of development on the fourth draft, all fan work was scrapped and the team took a more official approach to documenting each and every piece of writing by Cass Browne and Ed Caruana/Thomas O'Malley.[1]

Dawn of the Ogre was officially announced on 14 March 2022, with a preview available on IssuuW the same day.[2] By 27 March 2022, the book was "20% finalized".[3] It was completed by June 2022 and was scheduled for release on 31 October 2022,[4] but due to circumstances beyond the team's control, the release was delayed to 15 November.[5]
