Sir Elton Hercules John (b. 25 March 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, composer and pianist. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Role in Gorillaz[]

Elton John provided vocals and piano for the track The Pink Phantom from Gorillaz' seventh studio album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez and appeared in it's music video. He later made an appearance on Song Machine Live in an animated form thanks to animations reused from the music video. Later, in 2021, he included The Pink Phantom in his collaboration studio album The Lockdown Sessions.

Musical Career[]

Elton John has been making music and playing piano since 1962. John is the top solo artist in US chart history, third overall artist and the top Adult Contemporary artist of all time.^{^[1]} He created over thirty studio albums since 1969. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for "services to music and charitable services" in 1998 and was awarded France's highest civilian award, the Legion d'honneur, in 2019.
