Fatoumata Diawara (born 1982 in Ivory Coast) is a Malian actress, singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy Award nominee currently living in France.
Role in Gorillaz[]
Fatoumata Diawara provided vocals for the track Désolé from Gorillaz' seventh studio album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, appeared in it's music video and accompanying it Machine Bite. She also appeared in a hologram form on Song Machine Live. In 2021 Fatoumata joined Gorillaz on the Song Machine Tour where she performed on Désolé and Hong Kong.
Musical Career[]
Fatoumata Diawara received two nominations at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Best World Music Album for her album Fenfo and Best Dance Recording for Ultimatum in which she was featured with the English band Disclosure. Diawara has collaborated with Damon Albarn before on Africa Express and Rocket Juice & the Moon.
