Gavin Dodds is a musician, guitarist and member of the virtual band Spacemonkeyz, there known under the name Gavva.
Role in Gorillaz[]
Gavin Dodds formed a virtual band Spacemonkeyz with Darren Galea and Richie Stevens after Damon Albarn liked Galea's remix Tomorrow Dub so much that he asked him to remix the whole Gorillaz album. On the 1st of July, 2002, Spacemonkeyz released the remix album Laika Come Home. There, Tomorrow Dub was re-worked and re-named into the track Bañana Baby. The album's only single Lil' Dub Chefin' reached #73 on the UK Singles Chart.
Musical Career[]
Gavin Dodds is one of the first guitarists of the English Acid Jazz and Funk band Jamiroquai and contributed to the band's debut studio album Emergency on Planet Earth. He left the band in 1994 and soon after formed a musical duo Samuel Purdey with Barney Hurley. In 1999 they released their first and only album Musically Adrift. Dodds later formed the virtial band Spacemonkeyz with fellow music producers Darren Galea and Richie Stevens and released the album Laika Come Home, which became one of his most known works.
