J: The Rejects were an idea of mine that was Rejected. It’s a spin off band with cyborg Noodle on guitar and a Frankenstein’s monster singing, he had the voice of an angel 😇.

JUNE 10TH, 2020. Gorillaz Raritiez Menembeck interviews Murdoc Niccals through DMs.

B: Hi there Murdoc! Pleasure having you with us, if you don’t mind we’d like you to answer some of the communities biggest questions surrounding you lot.

M: Go on then, but don’t take too long, the wifi is rubbish at the moment and I’m trying to watch El Camino.

B: Ok, so first off is something that was causing quite a stir a few weeks back, Did Murdoc’s Operation, The game in which you had a visitor of Kong steal 2D’s organs, actually happen or was it no more than a simple flash game for the kiddies?

M: It was just a sick little game for fun I’m afraid, but if I ever got the chance to steal that ponce’s liver, you know I wouldn’t hesitate.

B: What exactly was the book of man and what ever happened to it?

M: The book of man was a very ambitious project of mine, it was a bit like Zelig, the Woody Allen movie. It was basically this chart for the entire history of planet earth and the human race, It had all these famous pieces of art and literature and such else, but the funny thing is, I was actually scattered throughout a lot of it, turns out I’m some kind of immortal being who has been around since the Big Bang and in some way or other I’ve been the key to many of the big moments in the History of the world. For example: There was this one I remember where I was in a bakery on Pudding Lane in 1666, I flicked my cigarette out the window into the street, turns out that started the great fire of London.

B: Yikes, quite the mindfuck. Moving on, Do you have any idea what happened to the space monkeys after they left kong? Or the Artificial Intelligence known as MEL, after Plastic Beach?

M: Oh, them. Yeah. The space Monkeys went to Uranus, and as for Mel, he just sank to the bottom of the ocean.

B: On the topic of Plastic Beach, According to your book included with the Humanz Super Deluxe, the band split and went their separate ways straight after Plastic Beach, how does the events of the Do Ya Thing music video fit into this?

M: Ok, you might want to brace yourself here mate. The Do Ya Thing video is happening in a different time zone to Plastic Beach. It was more of a nod to real things that were happening at the time.

Let’s say a retreat from the wonderful world of me.

B: Time Zone?

M: Yeah you know, like parallel?

B: Oh right, I get you. So which version of you am I speaking to right now?

M: The one who’s in a hurry to wrap this whole conversation up.

B: Ok well, in that case I’ll leave you with this question. Who exactly are The Rejects and do you know if they plan on making a comeback at some point?

M: The Rejects were, funnily enough, Rejected. It’s a spin off band with Cyborg Noodle on guitar and a Frankenstein’s monster singing, he had the voice of an angel.

B: Well that clears a lot of confusion up! Thank you so much for your time.

M: Yeah yeah whatever, I expect a considerable sum of dosh in my PayPal for wasting my time on this.

Original Conversation

B: Did Murdoc’s Operation, the game in which Murdoc stole 2D’s organs actually happen or was it just a game for the kiddies?

J: It was just a sick little game for fun, however if Murdoc was actually able to steal 2D’s organs I’m sure he would.

B: What exactly was the book of man and what ever happened to it?

J: The book of man was a very ambitious project we had planned for Plastic Beach ( a bit like Zelig, the Woody Allen movie) where we chart the entire history of planet earth and the human race and show, through famous pieces of art and literature etc that Murdoc is in-fact an immortal being who has been around since the Big Bang and in some way or other has been instrumental in many of the big moments in the History of the world.

Example: Murdoc was in a bakery on Pudding Lane in 1666 when he flicked his cigarette out the window into the street, and started the great fire of London.

B: What happened to the space monkeys after they left kong or MEL, after plastic Beach?

J: The space Monkeys went to Uranus and Mel sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

B: According to the Humanz Super Deluxe, the band split and went their separate ways straight after Plastic Beach, how does the events of the Do Ya Thing music video fit into this?

J: The do your thing video is happening in a different time zone to plastic beach. It was more of a nod to real things that were happening at the time. Let’s say a retreat from the world of the characters.

B: Who exactly are The Rejects and will they come back at some point?

J: The Rejects were an idea of mine that was Rejected. It’s a spin off band with cyborg Noodle on guitar and a Frankenstein’s monster singing, he had the voice of an angel 😇.
