The Lobby of Kong Studios was available interactively on Gorillaz.com back in Phase One - Two (2000-2008). This swell is being featured on Phase One: Celebrity Take Down and Phase Two: Slowboat To Hades DVDs.

Phase 1 (2000 - 2003)[]

Kong Lobby: 2000-2002

The Kong Studios lobby was where fans would enter upon entering the Gorillaz site. A little news panel would be shown above the Kong logo, which would tell the date and time, and news regarding the website or the release of a new Gorillaz single or album. Various doors and elevators would lead throughout Kong here. The lobby included a jukebox called Groove Bones Selecta Juke Box, which allowed fans to listen to snippets of the band's discography. You were also able to read the band's magazine interviews here. The big TV screen allowed you to play a Gorillaz quiz. In March 2001, the first ever Gorillaz mini-game was added to the lobby, titled Noodle Fight to tie in with the release of "Clint Eastwood".The game involved you playing as Noodle in the graveyard featured in the Clint Eastwood Music Video, outside Kong, and fighting the zombie apes and Del.

In December 2001, "911" was released, the lobby was where you were able to download the song, along with playing a short promotional video for the single.

In the Summer of 2002, the lobby monkeys were removed and replaced with the Spacemonkeyz to tie in with "Laika Come Home". If you clicked on the Spacemonkeyz you were able to hear snippets of various remixes from the album.

The lobby remained in this state during Gorillaz's first hiatus, up until sometime in 2003. Then in late 2004, the website was renovated for Phase 2.

Celebrity Take Down[]

The Lobby was featured on the Phase One: Celebrity Take Down DVD, where you find the Groove Bones Juke Box, if you clicked the Juke Box it would start playing all the Gorillaz Debut album singles in order. The Juke Box featured the video for the Tomorrow Comes Today Video, Clint Eastwood Video, 19-2000 Video, and Rock The House Video. The DVD also came with a CD-Rom which had all the minigames featured on the site now on disc.

Kong Lobby: 2004-2006

On the renovated lobby, the Spacemonkeyz were gone and replaced with a demon known as the lobby demon. The Kong logo was also renovated. The quizzes, magazines, 911, and Noodle Fight were all removed from the lobby upon renovation, a new Gorillaz mahjong solitaire-styled minigame replaced Noodle Fight. The big TV screen in the lobby now played Gorillaz adverts and promos instead of Gorillaz quizzes, the quizzes were moved over to the Kong Security Room. around Halloween, a pumpkin carving minigame would be added to the lobby. Once again various doors and elevators would lead you to corridors and rooms. You could now access the G Store through the lobby as well. Depending on the season, the lobby would update to match holidays such as Halloween and Christmas. In April 2006, following the events of "El MaƱana" and Noodle's disappearance, the lobby was updated to include red biohazard containers from DedEx that appeared to be leaking red fluids; fueling rumors that the containers held Noodle's remains. [1] On September 22, 2006, the lobby was destroyed now with the big TV featuring an advert for the Slowboat To Hades DVD. [2] The lobby would remain in this state up until mid-2008 when Murdoc burned down Kong Studios; destroying the lobby in the process.

The Lobby was featured in Phase Two: Slowboat To Hades DVD, where it could be seen at its worst. Now the lobby no longer featured the G-Shop or any mini-games. By this time Kong had been cleared of every band member and the only resident left in The Lobby was the "Horny Demon" who could be seen with a pumpkin doing nothing. In the fashion of Celebrity Take Down, you could find all the singles in order from Demon Days. The Juke Box featured the videos for Feel Good Inc Video, DARE Video, Dirty Harry Video and El MaƱana Video. The floor directory featured the singles and rooms you could visit. As well as this, Slowboat To Hades contained all mini-games on a CD-Rom.
