The official music video for the song Humility by Gorillaz featuring George Benson, lead single of the album The Now Now. It was released on 31 May 2018, ten days after the single itself, and was animated by film production companies The Line and prodocued by Ruffian.
On 12 July 2018, an alternate version of the music video was released, with a remix of the song by Superorganism. It was animated and produced by Blinkink.
Synopsis[]
The video starts with shots of 2-D roller-skating around Venice Beach and Jack Black playing a guitar. Noodle is then seen playing chess against Remi Kabaka Jr.. Ace, who replaced Murdoc while he was in jail, is then seen watching two men play basketball. When the ball lands in Ace's hand, he takes out a pocket knife and stabs it. After this, various video clips of local residents of Venice Beach are shown. Near the end of the video, Russel is seen standing on the side of the boardwalk. Russel then trips 2-D as he skates towards him. 2-D falls, and when he gets back up, his white eyes turn black. He begins to skate away again, only to fall on his face.
Superorganism Remix[]
The video is an edited version of the original music video, with 2-D and lead singer of Superorganism, Orono Noguchi, roller-skating down Venice Beach in the sunshine. They encounter Noodle, Russel and Jack Black, who Orono asks to hang out using a basketball. When Orono throws the ball, Ace catches it and stabs it with his pocket knife. In the end, when 2-D trips, Orono tries to help him but is captured by the āprawn policeā and sent to a pixel prison.
Commentary[]
On the 13th of May 2022, a commentary edition of the music video by band member Murdoc Niccals was posted to Gorillaz' official YouTube channel, as part of a series of commentaries on some of the band's music videos.
