Jean-Michel Jarre

Jean-Michel André Jarre (b. August 24, 1948) is a French composer, performer and record producer from Lyon, France.

Role in Gorillaz[]

Jarre provided synthesizers for Gorillaz tracks Momentz, Midnite Float, We Got The Power and Halfway To The Halfway House from their fifth studio album Humanz. Additionally his recording studio in Paris was one of the main studios used in the recording of Humanz.

Musical Career[]

Jean-Michel Jarre was raised in Lyon, where he trained on the piano for many years. His musical style was perhaps most heavily influenced by Pierre Schaeffer. Jarre's first mainstream success was the 1976 studio album Oxygène. The album sold an estimated 12 million copies. Oxygène was followed in 1978 by Équinoxe. More albums were to follow, but his 1979 concert served as a blueprint for his future performances around the world. He released 26 studio albums since 1973 so far and was the first Western musician officially invited to perform in the People's Republic of China.
