Jeff Wootton is an British multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He is the live guitarist for Gorillaz and has been so since the Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour in 2010.

Jeff Wootton is the live guitarist for Gorillaz, providing lead guitar for Gorillaz concerts since the Escape To Plastic Beach World Tour and continuing to be Gorillaz’ live guitarist for the Humanz Tour in 2017, The Now Now Tour in 2018, Song Machine Live in 2020, Song Machine Tour in 2021 and World Tour 2022 in 2022.
Jeff provided guitar for the track Hillbilly Man from The Fall.[1]
Musical Career[]
Before Gorillaz, Wootton was the live guitarist for Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye and later Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
In 2012, two years after the Escape To Plastic Beach tour Wootton became a the lead guitarist and bassist of The Heavy Seas, the live band for Damon Albarn’s Everyday Robots solo tour. He and Seye often switched between bass and guitar during the tour. Wootton has also worked with Albarn on an album by Africa Express. He recorded a project with Albarn, Brian Eno and Andre De Ridder for a 41-minute version of the composition In C by Teddy Riley.
In 2016, he played guitar on the Massive Attack EP Ritual Spirit.
In 2017, Jeff formed a supergroup called YOTA: Youth of the Apocalypse with fellow Gorillaz’ live bandmate Seye Adelekan, Klaxons' frontman Jamie Reynolds, drummer Jay Sharrock, rapper Young Lazurus and DJ Twiggy Garcia. Youth of the Apocalypse released the song Drop The Bomb (featuring MF Doom) on June 1st 2018, with the music video being released on July 10th 2018. Youth of The Apocalypse were originally set to headline the 2018 Demon Days Festival in Los Angeles, but ultimately cancelled their appearance and eventually broke up.
