Michael Len Williams II (known professionally as Mike Will Made It) is an American musician, songwriter, DJ, and producer from Atlanta, Georgia.
Role In Gorillaz[]
Mike Will first collaborated with Damon Albarn during his recording sessions for the sixth studio album The Now Now. The track never made it onto the album because Albarn decided to use only songs produced by James Ford. Two years later, Albarn reached out to Mike Will, saying that he wants to finish the track and use it on his newest album. The track, named Dead Butterflies, eventually got finished and released on the Gorillaz' seventh studio album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez. The track features Kano and Roxani Arias.
Musical Career[]
Mike Will has released one studio album, Ransom 2 in 2017, and six mixtapes. Identified by his trademark producer tag, Mike Will is one of the biggest producers in hip-hop and R&B today. Since 2012, he has produced Billboard Hot 100 hit singles for many artists, including among others Rae Sremmurd, Kanye West, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Miley Cyrus, BeyoncƩ, and Kendrick Lamar. He has won many awards, including BET Hip Hop Awards' Producer of the Year in 2013 and a Grammy for the Best Rap Song in 2018, and has produced multiple singles that became certified gold or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
