Yasiin Bey (b. Dante Terrell Smith; December 11, 1973), formerly known as Mos Def, is an American hip hop recording artist, actor, and activist from Brooklyn, New York City, New York.
Role in Gorillaz[]
Bey provided vocals for the Gorillaz tracks Stylo and Sweepstakes from Gorillaz' third studio album Plastic Beach. Since then he joined Gorillaz on Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour, Humanz Tour and The Now Now Tour.
Musical Career[]
Best known for his music, he embarked on his hip hop career in 1994, alongside his siblings in the short-lived rap group Urban Thermo Dynamics (UTD), after which he appeared on albums by Da Bush Babees and De La Soul.
