Cream of stoke members

Murdoc and his "Sensations"

Murdoc's Burning Sensations was one of Murdoc's many bands prior to forming the Gorillaz, though they never went anywhere. The names and instruments of the other members appear in the Gorillaz 2005 promotional booklet and are given as follows: Billy Boy (who is based on a character in A Clockwork Orange) and Tiny on guitars, Crunch on drums, Rocky on keyboards, and Munch, who appears to be listed as "Band Artist." Not much else is known about these characters including their personalities or current whereabouts, although they appear on a few pieces of official Gorillaz artwork, most notably in the previously mentioned booklet as well as in Kong Studios.

Band Members

The band consisted of six members (Murdoc being one of the six).

Crunch

Crunch art

Crunch (behind Billy)

Crunch was the band's drummer. He had a bushy beard and long hair and wore a World War 2 era US Army helmet with goggles as well as what appears to be winter bomber jacket (as evident from the fur collar).

Munch

Munch Concept

Munch

Munch is the promotional artist for band and Crunch's brother. He appears to have a short Mohawk cut with a mustache that connects to his beard. He appears to be of Asian descent (possibly Chinese due to similarities to how Jamie draws Chinese characters); making Crunch possibly Asian as well.

Rocky

Rocky concept

Rocky

Very little is known about Rocky beyond his role as the band's keyboardist and a rough depiction of his headshot. He wears a turban and a reflective visor over his eyes.

Tiny

Tiny Concept 2

Tiny (behind the monkey)

Like Rocky, very little is known about Tiny beyond his headshot sketch and his role as the band's backup guitarist. He appears to be of African descent and probably has a physical build similar to Russel's if not larger and taller (based on whether his stage name is an aptronym or an antiaptronym). His overall design appears to have been influenced by Russel's with the only real exceptions to his design being his possession of pupils and head hair.

Billy Boy

Billy Boy concept

Billy Boy

Billy Boy was the band's lead guitarist and presumably the vocals. His attire consisted of a biker cap, a American Civil War Confederate soldier's uniform, and chauffeur gloves.

Performances

Little is known about the band's music beyond their performance at the 1994 Cream of Stoke.

Trivia

  • Billy Boy's design was based on a character from Clockwork Orange.
  • Prior to the destruction of Kong Studios, an image of Crunch, Billy Boy and Tiny could be seen on the wall in the instrument room.
