One Percent is the tenth track of Gorillaz' sixth studio album The Now Now.
Background[]
Gorillaz' track Tranzformer from the Super Deluxe version of the album Humanz was used as the original demo for One Percent.[citation needed] The proper demo for One Percent was recorded during the Humanz Tour at the Marriott Hotel in Zurich, Switzerland.
One Percent debuted live on June 22, 2018, at the Zepp Diver City performance in Tokyo. A visualiser featuring appearances from 2-D, Russel, Noodle and Ace was uploaded to YouTube on June 29, 2018.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Every sound
Every sound from every world, receive
Every world, receiving you
Anyone
Not anyone of us who is in search
Everyone's receiving you
[Verse 2]
Come by the long way
Deep in the summer day
I'll be there with you
(That's where I heard it for myself)
On the training ground for the new world
You heard it too

Trivia[]
- One Percent is Jamie Hewlett's least favorite song from The Now Now. He even wanted to cut it from the album due to him thinking "it didn't fit", as stated in the documentary Reject False Icons.
ā | One Percent doesnt fit. I don't think- it's the outsider. It's a fucking great song, don't get me wrong, I love it. [...] It's a fantastic song, but it doesnt fit, that's all I said. Didn't say it's a shit song. | ā |
