I don't like being pigeonholed. Why would you want to limit yourself to one style or one genre? Labels are something I want to avoid. I've had it my whole life, being pushed into a place, a circumstance or situation I didn't want to be in. My motivation has always been to get away from it.

Tyron Kaymone Frampton (b. 18 December 1994), better known by his stage name slowthai, is a British rapper and songwriter.

Role in Gorillaz[]

Slowthai, alongside Slaves, provided vocals for the track Momentary Bliss from Gorillaz' seventh studio album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, appeared in it's music video and accompanying it Machine Bite. He later performed on Song Machine Live and Song Machine Tour.

Musical Career[]

Raised in Northampton, Tyron rose to popularity in 2019 for his gritty and rough instrumentals and raw, politically charged lyrics, especially around Brexit and Theresa May’s tenure as British Prime Minister. Slowthai placed 4th in the BBC Sound Of 2019 and followed up in the same year with his debut studio album, Nothing Great About Britain. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize; at Slowthai’s 2019 Mercury Prize ceremony performance, he held a fake severed head of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on stage, generating much controversy.
