Sweepstakes is the twelfth track on Gorillaz' 2010 album "Plastic Beach".

Band member Murdoc Niccals stated the following about "Sweepstakes" in a track-by-track commentary:

"The Hypnotic Brass brothers give us that full-on Chicago brass muscle, turning this track out into a ‘Quincy Jones’ version of hip hop, MC’ed superlatively by Mos Def. An absolute gent. I first met him in The Box club on the Lower East side of NYC. I like his rap work, and I saw him in Be Kind Rewind.

Sweepstakes: you’re a winner. Collect your little plastic prize at the counter. There’s a lot of rubbish that gets dangled in front of people on this Earth. Making people feel like a winner is one of the best ways of hooking them in."

Lyrics[1]

Pay day you're a winner
Pay day you're a winner
Keep cool form a line
Scared money broke money
Bold money mo money
So sunny cloud breaker
Sound maker wave runner
Wild wonder funky drummer
You can get it how you wanna
There's maths and there's dealers and players and me
They say that they winners ok well let's see
You pay or you play
The rules of the trade
The math of the days
The times of the age
What you want how you like
Aim high man why not
Sun, moon, starry y'alls
Each and all of y'alls
There's maths and there's dealers and players and me
They say that they winners ok well let's see

Sweepstakes, Sweepstakes, You're a winner
