Tarantula is a song by Gorillaz from their eighth studio album, Cracker Island. It is the fourth track on the vinyl and cassette releases versions of the album and the seventh on the CD and streaming ones.

The track was released on 24 February 2023 as part of the album along with its respective visualiser. An official lyric video, made by Ricardo Izquierdo, was posted to the band's official YouTube channel on 2 May 2023.

Real Life Backstory[]
Tarantula was recorded sometime between 2021 and 2022, and was produced by Greg Kurstin. According to Damon Albarn, the song was inspired by a tarantula that he saw in the baggage reclaim area of a MontevideoW airport on the first day of the South American leg of the 2022 Gorillaz World Tour. Albarn had also described the spider as a "very beautiful creature. A simple thing that charms you."[1]
Virtual Band Backstory[]
2-D said that the song was inspired by a tarantula that looked like George MichaelW, although Murdoc insisted that it was inspired by a dream in which he chased by giant spiders. He also said that his dream of terror upon waking served as the basis for the riff.[2]
