Girling worked alongside producer Jason Cox as a the producer for Gorillaz from 1998 to 2005. He and Cox provided production as well as drum and percussion work to the album. He also programmed sound effects on animated content from phase one. Unlike Cox, who continued to work with Gorillaz until Plastic Beach, Girling’s contributions started and ended with the band’s debut album.
